Description
A quick and delicious recipe for crispy fried chicken served with golden fries, perfect for busy weeknights or gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4–6 chicken pieces (legs and thighs work wonders)
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for frying (peanut or vegetable oil is great)
- 4 medium russet potatoes
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt to taste
- A sprinkle of paprika (optional for added flavor!)
Instructions
- Marinate the Chicken: Start by soaking your chicken pieces in the buttermilk for at least 2 hours, or overnight if you’re feeling adventurous.
- Prepare the Dredging Mixture: In a bowl, combine the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Heat the Oil: Heat about 2 inches of oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- Dredge the Chicken: Remove the chicken from the buttermilk and coat each piece in the seasoned flour.
- Fry the Chicken: Carefully lower the chicken pieces into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 15-18 minutes.
- Prepare the Fries: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Cut potatoes into fries, toss in olive oil, and sprinkle with salt.
- Serve the Chicken and Fries: Let the chicken drain on paper towels and serve it alongside the fries.
Notes
For extra crunch, double dip the chicken in buttermilk and then again in flour before frying. Always taste your seasonings!
