Description
Delicious and soft crumpets perfect for cozy mornings or afternoon tea.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups of warm milk
- 1 cup of warm water
- 2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 packet of active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Butter for greasing
Instructions
- Activate the yeast: In a bowl, mix warm water, milk, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- Mix the dry and wet ingredients: In another bowl, combine the flour, salt, and baking powder. Gradually add the frothy yeast mixture to the flour, stirring until well combined.
- Let it rise: Cover the bowl with a lid and set it aside in a warm spot for about an hour.
- Cook the crumpets: Preheat a non-stick skillet over low heat and grease the cookie cutters. Pour batter into the cutters and cook until bubbles form on the surface.
- Flip carefully: Remove the cookie cutters and gently flip the crumpets to brown the other side for another minute.
- Serve warm: Serve your crumpets warm with butter, jam, or honey.
Notes
For best results, cook on low heat and allow the batter to rise properly.
