Ingredients
  

For the Brownie Balls

  • 1 box box of brownie mix (and the ingredients listed on the box, usually water, oil, and eggs)
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

For the Black Forest Cookie Dough

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (heat-treated if you prefer) Use heat-treated flour for safety.
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • ½ cup chopped cherries (you can use dried or fresh)

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven according to the brownie mix instructions, usually around 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine your brownie mix and the ingredients specified on the box. Stir until well combined.
  • Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.

Bake and Cool

  • Use a cookie scoop to drop the brownie batter into a greased baking dish or lined pan.
  • Bake as per the box instructions, typically around 20-25 minutes.
  • Let the brownies cool completely on a wire rack.

Make the Cookie Dough

  • In a large bowl, cream the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until fluffy.
  • Mix in the vanilla extract, then fold in the flour and salt.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips and chopped cherries.

Form the Balls

  • Crumble the cooled brownies into a large bowl.
  • Add half of the cookie dough into the brownie crumbles and mix until well combined.
  • Form small balls with the mixture and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Chill and Devour

  • Refrigerate the brownie balls for at least 30 minutes before serving.
  • Enjoy as is, or roll in cocoa powder, powdered sugar, or crushed nuts as you prefer.

Notes

If the dough feels sticky, add a sprinkle more flour. For a twist, drizzle melted chocolate over the chilled brownie balls.
